The Australian PV Association has launched its new PV in Australia 2011 report, which states that a total of 837 MW of solar PV was installed in Australia during 2011 – more than twice the capacity added during 2010.
Other key findings from the report include:
Of the 837 MW of solar PV installed in Australia during 2011, 91 per cent was connected to the electricity grid – taking the cumulative grid-connected portion up to 88 per cent
The total installed capacity of solar PV in Australia is now 1.4 GW
Solar PV power has now reached grid parity in many parts of Australia
Government solar support programs are winding down as Australia reaches grid parity.
The report is produced by the Australian PV Association as Australia’s contribution to the International Energy Agency’s annual report on international trends in solar PV.
